Default Teach me CB

Ok Guys, I was diggin through the garage and I found a nice little Cobra CB that seems to work fine when hooked up to 12v. I have very little knowledge about CBs so any info and suggestions would be great. I'd like to hook it up and get it working for as little $$ as possible.

Heres a couple of pics of the CB, I even found the owners manual!

Just looked at the date on the back: August 1983! Still looks like new.

what i would actually do for the power is hook it into something that turns on and off with the key so you cant accidentally leave it on when you get out of the truck

Yep, got how to wire it up. I've done plenty of stereos before, and it already has wires with an in-line fuse.

I've heard that there's a few different kind of antennas, with a whip being only one of them. Also I've heard that you need coaxial cable from the antennae to the CB, will TV coaxial work? Because I have tons of that.

Is this a decent antenna? Its just a cheapy from radio shack

Also, for the TV coaxial, I make my own cable by splicing and putting on the ends. I probably have a roll of 50' sitting in my basement somewhere, what if I put the CB ends on the TV cable. Sorry if this sounds annoying just trying to save every penny.
