Default Tailgate not working right

Recently my tailgate on my '08 hasn't been opening easily. Once its open a bit, I have to push it all the way down. And it binds a little bit when closing, sometimes I hear a pop.
Now I have looked at it many different ways, there is nothing caught in it, the gaps when open and closed are all equal, telling me nothing is bent. I took a photo and I noticed part "A" is now rotating independently of part "B". I realize the internal part is what winds that torsion bar inside the tailgate to assist with closing. I think part A is binding as it roates.

Any ideas? I might grind the paint and spot weld it.

Try to grease it up before you go and weld it. It might loosen up the internals causing it not to seize up and move the whole thing.

For your future posting consideration .....

HINT/TIP: You'll find posting in the
Late Model F150s > 2004 2008 Ford F150
section more helpful/appropriate than General F150 Discussion posts.

Thanks, I know about the different sections but figured it might get more views or someone with a different year may have come across this.
And I will try some lube first. Thanks!
