Default Tailgate Cover

I'm looking for something to cover the bed side of my tailgate. I would prefer a smooth piece of stainless or aluminum, no plastic. Do you know of anyone that has them already cut to fit? Thanks.

Thanks for the Deezee link. I wish they had one that did not cover the rail as I would like to use the rail cap.

You can modify that piece, or go to a machine shop and have one cut out. Shouldn't be that expensive.

Resurrecting really old thread about the Access Tailgate Protector. I'm removing the "stripper pole" and looking to replace the plastic cover on the inside of my tailgate. I want something flat and smooth to provide a table-like surface when camping (in addition to my camp table). I've removed the stripper pole and plastic cover already but that leaves the tailgate "open" on the inside, which I guess is to provide access to the latch mechanism on the inside. The Ford OEM tailgate cover for this is ~$350, which is waaaay too much for a sheet of metal, especially when they used to sell it for ~$50 and then jacked the price up by an order of magnitude because profits, I guess.

I found the "Access Tailgate Protector" which looks to be a sheet of stainless steel with pre-drilled holes.
Amazon Amazon

My question is, how does this install? Do the self-tapping screws that come with it mean I'm drilling new holes in my tailgate even though there are about a dozen holes already from the factory for attaching the plastic or metal OEM covers? Or am I drilling yet more holes into my tailgate (and are the provided screws zinc/galvanized or stainless also?).

Thanks in advance for any info you have about this tailgate protector.
