Default Tailgate Backup Camera

I have a 2014 F150 lariat that did not come with a backup camera. However, I now have a new tailgate with a built-in backup camera that was for a F150 with a backup camera. Is there a way for me to wire this camera into the screen inside of my truck?

The short answer: Yes.

You may have to get a BCM out of a truck that had the feature, you will need the wiring, and you will have to make some changes with FORScan to enable the feature.

Someone will be along shortly to provide more detail. In the meantime, you might want to cross-post this to the 12th gen sub-forum as you are likely to come into contact with more people that have upgraded their 12th gens there than in here.

Thanks for hyjacking my thread. While I read with interest your attempts to retrofit a camera on an older year truck, it doesn’t belong here. Please post your own questions under a new title in the future. Thanks.

Default My bad…

Apparently I posted my “hyjacked” comment under the wrong thread. I had posted about a problem I am having with my 2021 F-150 Backup camera and did not realize the retrofit thread was not part of my thread. But it did follow my post and I mistakenly thought it was someone hyjacking. My sincere apologies.

so you mentioned FORscan, I’ll bring up a question I’ve had for a minute now. The Linkswell removed the Sync system. With it gone, does FORscan do anything?

YES, FORSCAN can talk to all modules and it has WAY more functions than just SYNC stuff.
