Default Sync3 Auto Updates

I picked up my 2016 XLT on Monday and started tinkering with Sync. Didn't see the Android Auto button so I started looking around and saw that my Sync version is 1.0. Time for an upgrade to 3.0. So I enabled wifi in the truck and got it going with my house wifi, hit Auto Updates and checked for upgrades, Nothing. Still says its "up to date". Jumped on the My Ford page and it says the software is was updated April of 2016.

Is it easier doing the updates via USB than wifi? I'd like to just pull up to the house and let'r rip.

Ford doesn't mention the USB thing, but I thought as long as I got a 32gb USB 2.0 and ran it with my truck's Sync USB, I'd be ok. If this is an issue, they should mention that before owners try to attempt an update.

Is it plug/play? I can just pull the old one out and put the new one in?
Also..thanks again. I'm sure I'd be throwing things against the wall when the update didn't work.

I suggest downloading the update on a computer and use a USB stick to update the truck.

Exactly what I did and it worked flawlessly. If you want to run Android Auto, which is pretty cool as an option for running a big map if you dont have Sync Navigation, youll have to run a usb cord from your phone, I thought I read somewhere that Bluetooth would work, but for me it didnt.

Gotta love tech in vehicles these days.
