Default Sync 3 / Apple CarPlay Issues

I have an 18 XLT Special Edition and I'm wondering if anyone else is having any issues with freezing and general quirkiness of the system. I usually only have the issue with CarPlay when my iPhone 7 is plugged in. Different apps within CarPlay will freeze as I'm playing music (Usually Amazon Music App) and it's pretty frustrating. Also, when the iPhone is plugged in it seems to want to use the maps from my iPhone. Is there a way to use the map from Sync while the iPhone is plugged in? I don't see an option for this.

I had issues until I updated my Sync firmware. The phone would only sometimes connect with CarPlay. Would suddenly stop working ect. Once I updated all the little kinks went away. I would try that first.

The big issue I have with CarPlay is that you cannot bring up Ford Nav and CarPlay. If your phone is connected with Carplay enabled, no way to get to the Ford Nav. Anyone know where to go to request feature upgrades to Sync3? I am running Sync3 with FW V3.0. Just did the manual upgrade from 2.3 last week.

Heck, my 2017 Honda CR-V can do it.

But it to answer your question, no I have not had any freeze up issues, but then I do not use it as much as I want, due to the Nav issue.

Default Apple Play

Not sure what version of Sync I have in my 2018 F150 XLT but Apple Play runs just find.. meaning I see no significant lag in the interface when I run it and that is going to be practically never. In my opinion Apple Play is a waste of time, it needs a lot more work to be useful beyond playing music from my iPhone.

I had the same issue on my new 2019 XLT 4.0 I purchases 4 weeks ago when I would try Apple Carplay. When I updated to Sync 3.3, that problem went away but my Voice Control doesn't work properly. When I try to find an address or anything dealing with navigation, the screen just blinks and takes me back to the home screen. I took it back to the salesman I purchased it from and he took a look at it. We both tried and the same result. I have an appt on this Tuesday. He thinks it's the APIM or unit needs to be replaced.

I just bought a 2019 XLT yesterday. I also have the same problem. When I have one of my old Iphones hooked up to the USB using Apple Carplay, I am unable to pull up the Ford Navigation. Not sure what version of software the Sync 3 is yet. I am still playing around with it.
