Default Switched from E85 back to gasoline

Been running E85 in my 02 5.4L for quite a while. Decided to switch back to gasoline. The 25 gal tank had 8 gals left in it so I was gonna switch tunes back to gas and fill up. I switched to the gas tune and ran the truck on the remaining E85 to the gas station. I filled up with premium and drove back home. It ran good and since I still had 27.2% alcohol I kept an eye on the fuel trims. Runs a little rich but not bad.

I have never been a big supporter of E85. We did a study and found that the money you saved on the inital cost at the pump was lost in the poor gas mileage.

This is true but I was using it as cheap race gas. Bought stick tires and new rims and a 4 link with adjustable shocks due to the low end torque wrapping up the springs and breaking the old tires loose.

Try http://www.buyrealgas.com/ to see if there's a station. I add Amsoil PI fuel conditioner every 4000 miles and also add a product by Sta-Bil for alcohol every other tank. The E85 hasn'tcaused me any fuel system problems I can tell.

Prices vary depending on where you are, closer to the ethanol plants the cheaper it gets and therefore more likely to be worth it. A good rule of thumb is that if e85 is 20% cheaper than gas you will break even on cost vs mileage loss. If its more than 20% then e85 becomes more economical to run.
