Switch to a Ranger?
I have had it with my F150 and all the issues it has. Looks like I can trade my 2018 F150 basically straight across for a 2020 Ranger. Other than the size difference is there any other reason not to do this? Are there any known issues with the Rangers? I don’t tow anything or use my truck for work. It’s just a daily driver that has a few mountain bikes in the bike once or twice a week. Just want to make sure I won’t regret getting the Ranger.
I would only be concerned about the size change. Is the smaller truck okay with you? Anything you will need a bigger truck for in the future?
pros and cons that you’d have to weigh out for yourself.

I like the looks of the Ranger and coming from a Frontier there really wouldn’t have been any size difference, but I went with a 2.7 F-150 for two reasons: 1) the Ranger costs almost as much as the F-150, and 2) the fuel economy isn’t much better.

I had an older F-150 and decided I needed/wanted a new truck. Actually, I should have kept it. Oh well.
I decided that a mini truck was all I needed. After all, I’m retired, live in a condo, don’t haul much, etc, etc.
So, to my dismay, I traded for a new Nissan Frontier last January. It rides pretty good, decent gas mileage, with the crew cab I can haul people and “stuff”, fits in the garage, and lots of other pluses. It was great on the test drive of 15 minutes!!
I’ve driven full size trucks all of my life and after just a few weeks I started finding fault with the Nissan. It was less comfortable on a long 3+ hour drive. It did not ride as solid as a full size truck. Once I loaded it with a load of rock and it kept bottoming out. On long drives I feel cramped and I can’t “stretch out”. I keep hitting the B pillar with my butt when I get into or out of the truck. Suddenly, there are hundreds of minor and major irritations that have built up over the last several months.
Don’t get me wrong, the Frontier is a really nice “little” truck....for anyone else but me, and I’m certain the new Ranger is likewise.
BOTTOM LINE: I PICK UP MY NEW F-150 TOMORROW!!!
yep, I’m taking a hit on the trade but I can’t live with a mini truck any longer. My wife demanded me to trade because she was sick of my complaining daily.
My son did the same...he traded for an older ranger and now drives a Ram. My son-in-law bought a 1st generation Colorado and now has an F-150.
Suggestion-rent a ranger for a week or two BEFORE you take the plunge...drive the heck out of it.
Good luck!!!
