Somebody said that they never made a styleside lightning, and that they were all clones. I was thinking last night, and i cant remember ever seeing a stepside lightning.

I would imagine that it is not uncommon for people to put a styleside bed on a Lightning. To me, its the only thing that keeps the truck from being perfect. If you want a Lightning but need more bed room, go to a junkyard and find a bed for $400.

The only problem is the complete lack of resale by switching beds you would kill it...

My buddy has a yellow one, they only came in two colors, yellow and black ,they also have front and rear special under bumper moldings.

I think they were all Hemi's with 345hp and 4x4 or 4x2, and only came in reg cab short box with 20 inch rims.
they also have some special interior things as well.

How so? Its not like the VIN's would not match up or the color would be off... the only color that the Lightning had that the regular F150's didn't was the Patriot Blue and Dark Grey.

Most Lightnings were white, silver, black or red. How many 6' beds in those colors have you seen in junk yards? I've seen tons.

You would kill the resale value by switching to a non-stock item like the bed... That would be a very personal want/need... Not something that is a very common switch... You know as well as I do that once you start doing minor mods to your truck that the value starts to decrease, change the body lines like that and the value will plummet...
