Default Stuttery, Jerky Engine on Acceleration From Full Stop

This is my first post, so I hope I picked the right thread on the site....here goes...

I have a 1993 Ford F-150 with 200,380 miles on it. Within the past few days, when I have attempted to accelerate from a complete stop, the truck has begun to stutter and jerk like it was a person choking on a bit of food. The truck moves forward at first, then it begins to have its fit. If I take my foot almost totally off the gas, it eases up a bit, and then the fit just seems to disappear seconds later. I am NOT very mechanical (although I can read and follow instructions in a repair manual), but does this sound like I have a transmission problem? It also seems to not care much for inclines.

Could this be an issue I can fix on my own with the right guidance? I am not made of dollars, and if I walk into a garage here in Fayetteville, most mechanics will see "sucker soldier" stamped all over my face.

Any advice or guidance any of you could impart would be deeply appreciated.

Sounds like a timing or fuel problem. I would check the timing, plugs, then coils/wires then move onto fuel pump/injectors.

agree with the post above, doesn't sound like a transmission problem to me - any check engine light coming on?
