Default Studed tires for snow and ice?!?

Was wondering if anyone as had any experience with studs during winter. How well do they work? And are they really necessary. My truck is two wheel drive and I was thinking about putting some on this winter. See I just moved to Fargo ND and this will be my first winter so I'm a little nerviest about slipping on the ice. Does anyone else have any other suggestions. Thank you

Studs make a world of difference on ice! I always stud winter tires on the wifes car. Being from Canada we get lots of snow and ice

Double check to see of it's legal first. But yeah, if you can, they help a lot. We run them on our ambulance and it helps.

Snow tires are great in snow, studs don't change that. Studs are great on ice, as the combo goes---you won't be sorry that you did it. Pickups are light in the rear end and tend to swap ends when the road is slick, adding ballast helps the traction--but when it swaps ends, it goes faster and farther.

The secret is what you get going---you still have to get stopped. If the snow is really bad, put them on all 4 corners.

Studs should always be installed on all 4 tires or not installed at all.

States that allow studs have specific dates when you can put them on and have to take them off.
And yes, studs should be put on all 4 corners. Be careful, on dry pavement they have less traction than regular tires and you can swap ends real quick.

That's crazy! I figured they were legal every where in Canada during certain months
