How much soot do you want on the nearest body panel to the pipe exit? Put a cherry bomb on at the very least or that's what will happen.

What truck? What engine? What do you want for results? If its just noise and to impress the local cops go for it. if your looking for mpg aint going to help if your looking for power depends on what your working with If you have to pass a state inspection not a good idea

What do you consider "straight pipe"? Some people have different meanings for straight pipes. I consider straight pipes either true dual with no muffler or resonator, or a 2-1-2 with no muffler or resonator. I have a 2-1-2 with no mufflers on my 2013 5.0 screw and it sounds GREAT! It's not loud and annoying like most people would think.

I had straight pipes on my 04 5.4 for a few weeks. It sounded great at idle and during acceleration but it drones really bad on the highway. My dad bought me a Flowmaster 40 for Christmas so I put that on but it is way too quiet IMO. I plan on upgrading to Flowmaster super 10s in the future. I've heard that those get rid of a lot of the drone but I don't know for sure.

If you mean just a muffler delete its not loud at all and still has a good sound if you leave the cats on. I did this on both my screw 4.6 and screw 5.4. I'm my opinion my 4.6 sounded deeper and less poppy. The 5.4 was a little crackly until fully warmed up.
