starting problem/wiring?
i am having a problem with my truck, it's a 1998 F-150.
It will turn over, act like it almost wants to start, but it just won't catch.
Obviously, first things first, i checked all the fuses and the relays. They all were fine. So i thought it was the fuel pump, replaced that but it still didn't start. thought it was the fuel pressure regulator but yet again, damn my luck it's not.
After i thought it was the regulator, a mechanic friend of mine ran a wire from the fuel pump straight to the fuse box to bypass the relay to determine if that was what was wrong. This time, the fuel pump turned on and started to pump, but truck still wouldn't start. After this, i checked all of the fuses again and one of them was blown. The blown one was one of the fuses that the ECM is connected to.
Another friend of mine that is a motorcycle mechanic came over and took a look at things. He says since that fuse was blown to check the ECM wiring out, so that's what i'm going with.
That's the back story. My question is has anyone else ever had a problem like this before? Or does anyone know if F-150's have had wiring issues in the past?

Before you replace everything in the truck stick a scanner on the system and see what codes are generated. Until you do that, you're groping about in the dark.
