Speakers worthwhile?
I have a 2011 Lariat with the Sony Nav package.
I am use to swapping out my Ford speakers with the Polk DB571 speakers.
Is it really worthwhile to change them on this truck?
I don't want to change the head unit and if it is worthwhile I would like to keep the total cost under $300 if just for speakers.
Are the DB571 good enough for this system or is there a better speaker?
If it helps I'm big into the 80s metal, WASP, Judas Priest, Hair a Bands, etc.
TIA

Is the sound system in the lariat the same as the fx4? Because I have an fx4 and the sound system in those truck sound really good and i also have the factory subwoofer aswell.. Absolutly no need to change the sound system unless the speakers are blown
I believe they are the same.
I have the Sony with Navigation, plus it does has a subwoofer under the right rear seat.
I haven't checked to see if it is setup like my Mustang, I had the Shaker 500 in that not the 1000.
I do plan on putting the polyfill in the subwoofer.

Opinions on sound are HIGHLY subjective.
What a 60 year old man thinks is good won't impress a 25 year old in most cases.
I personally am right in between and I have an FX4 and the speakers are decent.
However, I'm intimitately familiar with Sony Video and Sony Audio. Sony Video was the TV leader up until Plasma's debuted. Sony Blu-Ray players and technology is still the best. Sony Audio sucks IMHO that's why I didn't want the "premium" stereo.
So in my opinion if you do not care for it, then yes, you should update the speakers
as well as the amplifier(s) driving them.

Whether or not changing the speakers in a Sony system would improve the sound I'm not sure but I did change the speakers in the stock system in my 2010 XLT to Polk DB571 and notice quiet an improvement in tone quality. I know nothing about automotive sound system but short of a Boise system I think the factory speakers are terrible.
