Default Spare tire sizing

So my truck came with 265/60R18's which are 30.5" tall.
My spare is a 265/70R17 which is 31.6" tall. Right off the bat that was odd to me.

Now I'm running 275/55R20's which are 31.9" tall. This diameter is much closer to my spare, so at least I have that going for me .

But why did ford give me a 31.6" spare to use with 30.5" wheels? They should have given me a 265/65R17 (30.6" tall) spare and that would have been a nearly dead on match for my original 265/60R18's.

Anyway, am I ok running a 31.6" spare with 31.9" (275/55R20) set of tires? Or would a 32.1" (255/75R17) spare be better?
