Default Spare key

My 05 came only with 1 key. I would like to make another one but the Dealer wants 175 for a spare. Is there any place else I can go that would be cheaper?

While I am not positive about an 05 I do know the later models require two keys before you can program a third key. It will require the dealer to program. You can buy the keys off Ebay as I recently did. Mine was $17.99 including shipping but I have two keys so programming this key will be easy.
You might check with a local locksmith and see if you can get one made and programmed a little cheaper.

Make sure that if you go to a locksmith that they make a separate key, not a clone, if you ever want to program new keys on your own. A clone is just a copy of the key you have and you will not be able to program new keys on your own since you really only have one key. A clone is not bad, I have one. I paid $85 for my clone.

If you go to a locksmith and request a spare key programmed as a second key, expect to either pay the same price as the dealer, or be referred back to the dealer. You can save money by going with a cloned code, something many locksmiths can do. Perhaps get a third key at the same time... A cloned key will not allow you the ability to add keys easily later, but no other impact. Newer Ford models with MyKey should have all keys programmed separately, not cloned.
