Default Sound.

I am no mechanic but I just got a 2004 F150 STX and would like to make it louder. What is the cheapest way to do this? (college budget)

Cat-back exhaust- I like the sound of Magnaflo

Longtube headers and a 93oct performance tune if you have the extra coin

I see a lot of expensive intakes to replace the factory CAI and wonder why?

what i would do is buy the muffler you want and the tip or tips you want and take it to a muffler shop and tell them how you where you want the exhaust to exit and have them weld it. youll save alot of money compared to buying a completed exhaust system.

i have a flowmaster super 44 SI/DO. it sounds great. cost me about $80 and the tips i bought were $50. got the whole set up welded for $200.

thats what i did. i think most people do.

i bought the muffler from Amazon for like $80 and the tips. went to the muffler shop by me thats owned by a family friend. i told him what i wanted. i also told him i wanted stainless steel piping, he looked at me like i was nuts. stainless steel piping is so expensive, i was worried about my exhaust rusting out. he told me to just use normal piping that he has at his shop and coat it with some high temp paint. i did just that and the piping is still black, no complaints.

my system sounds awesome. the super 44 has a nice scream too it at high RPMs. now that its broken in it sounds even better than it did when i bought it. just keep it simple dude.

My setup is LOUD, and all I did was get the Flowmaster 40 Series muffler and turn it out in front of the rear tire with a 5" tip. About $200 at a muffler shop. Here is a sound clip of mine (turn those speakers up ). Sorry for the long narration haha
