Question Solar battery maintainer ?

Anyone have any personal experience with the afore mentioned solar maintainer?

Have had my truck for almost 2 years now and only have 7000 miles on it and most of those are little 3.4 mile trips to and from work.

This last little cold snap made my battery weaker, almost to the point of not starting so I would like to counter lack of use with a known good solar alternative. I'm a little leery of those cheap ones harbor freight sells and would like recommendations from actual users.

I prefer solar rather than a trickle charger, which I have so I don't have to run an extension cord all the time, something I can sit on my dash and run a wire to the battery.

I think I may have found my solution, I have gov/military contacts and was referred to this http://www.pulsetech.net/SP2-SolarPu...Watt-7297.aspx

Supposedly already in use in the battle fields for their equipment, has a 5 year warranty. Surprisingly it purports to increase battery longevity due to it's ability to desulfate batteries as it charges.

Quite a bit more expensive than consumer grade options but you usually get what you pay for, I decided to order it based on recommendations as well as it's small foot print, it'll sit nicely in that useless tray center dash.

I've dealt with them in the military. If you get a good one, they work well. Some produce a high pitch sound that gets annoying as hell. I've mounted probably a couple hundred to military vehicles. It's hard to say how well they actually work as most of the equipment didn't move or get started in over a month. The batteries used were Exide 725CCA that measured over 1000CCA's with the test equipment. All of these were easy to install. The bad part about them is the small gauge wire that they use to go to the battery. Tended to get cracked over a period of time and short out when it rained. We had to drill holes to mount them on the hoods or upper cab.

EDIT**I should say it's hard for me to say anything about reliability since we didn't start them but once a month.....maybe.

Maybe it'll cancel out the tinnitus in my head if it does.

Installed and charging and no high pitch noise, unless it's at the same frequency as the tinnitus I have and canceling it out. lol
