So everyone just lives with the way Ford Sync/Carplay is?
New to Ford Sync and CarPlay, their abilities are horrible.
Just bought a '19 F-150 and I realized if you connect your phone through Bluetooth, there is a 1-2 second lag between your phone and what is projected from the speakers.
The audio between the devices are not synced (funny it's called Ford Sync).
If you disable Bluetooth and connect through the USB cable, same thing.
It does work if you use CarPlay but CarPlay is absolutely horrible. There are basically no settings and you have to deal with the the text/phone situation and the maps when using an app.
I originally wanted to disabled CarPlay completely and just wanted to use the Bluetooth or USB but the lag is horrible.
You can try it by watching a YouTube video. The video will be able 1-2 seconds faster than the audio coming out of the speakers.
I tested this with my wife's '17 Explorer with a different phone, same thing.
Is everyone just dealing with this?
I came from a '14 Mustang which had an older Ford Sync I believe but never had this problem. Using the same phone.

I just want to play audio through the speakers without a lag.
Fwiw, I have a '16 XLT with the bare-bones interior and almost no features. Tiny info screen, yadda yadda. It's like a Pong game on my dash.
Anyway, I have an iPhone Xs and I Bluetooth my music Playlists through the truck's basic audio system with no perceived lag. How are you measuring what you perceive as audio lag?
Even without the vehicle, I *have* noticed over the last few years that any convo on cellphones is delayed, which makes interjection difficult and some conversations troublesome. I ask the person I am conversing with if they notice it, and they have each had similar experiences.

dont like it? dont use it
To be fair, that's not the answer the OP is looking for.
Just simply watch a YouTube video or Netflix, play the audio through the speakers without using the CarPlay. The audio won't sync with the video, it's comical for today.
Gotcha. Yeah, that would annoy the **** out of me.
My expectations were low, I got the truck I wanted (CPO) without waiting for a build, and it was completely affordable. I'm happy.
But I don't watch vids through my truck's dashboard.
