I had 130k on the '04 XLT 4x4 I just traded in. I paid 18k for it new and got 6k for it after 9 years and all those miles. Never had a repair. Only parts I ever replaced were tires, rear brake pads at about 110k, tires, and shocks at 80k. Followed all the recommended intervals in the manual and never had a problem. I hope my 2013 treats me as good as that one did.

I'm at 128,100 on my 04 XLT. I've got an evap issue and a bulb is burned out behind my instrument cluster, but other than that, she runs like a top. I drive the Old Bucket every day about 50 miles to work and back.
I've only done plugs (@ 102k), tires and oil changes. Trans fluid still has beautiful color and feels new. Brake pads looks fine to my eye, as well and the truck stops on a nickle.
I've been casting an eye at a '13 though, because the 4.6 is dog slow, and the 4-speed transmission means 75mph is 2000+ RPM.

130,000 miles.
Bought in '07 with 35K miles (approx?). ZERO Rust. Not even on the wheel wells or the tailgate!
Replaced:
oil pan gasket
radiator
heater core (2)
alternator
thermostat
water pump
ball joints
tie rod
drag link
tie rod ends
front wheel bearings
Most of this is maintenance, but the heater core went out twice in a year. I am guessing I got a bad one from the parts store?? Also, of course, breaks, hoses, belts, etc.
needs radial arm bushings and the tranny seems to be leaking a little, but it runs great (or at least it will when I figure out why the belt keeps popping off).
Daily driver for 5 years, bought an 06 and gave "Old Green" to my daughter. She loves it!

I just picked up a '13 5.0L XLT SCREW shortbox today (5625lbs dry), 3.73 rear end... just 82 km's on it so far averaging 12-13 L/100km's combined city & hwy (18-19.6 U.S. mpg) - same or better than my Ford Edge did... babied it just to see what she could do. Tomorrow I will run it up a bit and begin the ring seat process.
You will find a world of difference between the 2004 and these ones. There may be a few 2013's left! Go take a test drive and tell me what you think.

Grandpa's big Blue Truck
Last 1/2 ton I had before I got my new one 2 years ago was a 89 F150 scab 4x4 short bed 302 cid had it for 5 years bought it off my brother who had it about 6 years he was vary hard on it and had to rebuild the motor (over heated it badly) . I used it on the farm and as a dd loved the truck but it was hard on gas and was to light duty to pull the size of tt we wanted . So I ordered the 2011 F150 (vary happy with it) gave the old truck to my son but I guess it wasn't good enough for him and he sold it 2 months later went deep in debt and bought a 2010 Chevy 1/2 ton crew cab used he still has it but not very happy with it . Grandson still likes Grandpa's big blue truck I still miss the 89 had a lot of fun with it not that the 2011 can't do what I did with the 89 and more but I like to keep it looking new first new truck in 30 years
