I have a 1979 f150 that I just bought and I am a little worried about the frame.
Should I be worried. I would think that it could be welded fairly easily by a professional body/frame guy but would the frame still be strong? If it is possible to do would it be an expensive job assuming average labor rates?
If the rest of the frame looks like that, I would be worried enough to get a doner frame. That is a breaking point since the leaf springs bolt in front of and behind that frame rot. That would be hard to judge a price, depends on the exent of the damage.
^^Agreed. If the rest of the frame looks like that, it's better to find a donor frame or buy a new replacement if you can find one. Not sure if places like Year One or any other classic parts suppliers would have one though.
This is the only spot that I am concerned about the rest of the frame is solid. I wont be driving it very fair away, just to the body shop. I would like to have an idea of what I am getting into before I take it.

Like I said before, its hard to tell the extent of the damage. You might see 6in of rot, but a frame guy might see more. Very hard to give any type of estimate from a picture.
