Default Setting the Clock

This is a silly situation.

Last fall my 2012 needed its clock reset for the end of DST. The instructions in the manual are wrong. I went to the dealer and asked how it is done. They sent a guy out who promptly set it, and wouldn't say how.

Now tht we are back to DST, I tried again . The manual is still wrong, and I figured it out by trying many combinations of how it might work.

I've never before had an owners manual be wrong on how to do simple stuff.

One of Ford's better ideas? Change the system but not the manual?

If you go to www.owner.ford.com and sign up for a free account you will find revised documentation for your vehicle, just as an example my 2013 is on it's 3rd owners manual printing.

Ford is not going to waste time, ink, paper reprinting an entire manual when they can provide online access for revisions the owner can then print.

Don't you just press the clock button and enter the time of day with the 1-9+0 buttons on the console? I had a 12 FX4 with the multi cd player though. No navigation.

That's what I do. Won't let you use 24 hour format though. Dang it!

It's what I do on my 12.
I cheated, I didn't check the manual.

It's easier than the clock set on my old 2008...
That one was easy too. Like wife's Explorer.

I have 24hr option on mine, it's in the menu settings. Maybe you do as well?

I tried setting mine this morning with the GPS button, it didn't change the hours. I just added an hour with the "+" button and all is well.

Its EZ! For my 12 xlt, just hold Clock button! Enter Current time with 0-9 buttons, hit Enter/Select **** to the right of a Volume/Power ****!

You are all correct. But that is not what FORD said in the book. Here is a part of page 49.

Setting the Clock-clock.jpg.

The problem is that the hours never flash and the SEEK button changes the radio. How is one to guess?

Sometimes it's scary reading these posts...

In the manual, on page 47, it says right at the beginning:

Audio Systems

AM/FM stereo system (if equipped).

This means that IF your picture doesn't match what they are showing, this section of the manual DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU.

On page 49, it shows a different radio system and then on page 50 shows the exact instructions that everyone has been telling you.

IMHO, the Ford manuals aren't well written. They should say, "There are many different radio systems put into our vehicles. Find the picture that matches your vehicle below and then refer to that section of the manual."

Picture 1 - starts on page XX
Picture 2 - starts on page YY
Picture 3 - starts on page ZZ

Hope this helps.
