Default Screws on 3rd brake light

I took the bulbs out of my middle brake light because I'm getting a topper put on. There are 4 screws. The outside two I cannot get snug. They just keep turning. The middle ones are fine. What should I do?

If holes are stripped you could use something like a piece of plastic small wire tie. Cut a piece, slip it into metal hole before screw and tighten screw. The same way you would tighten stripped screw in wallboard or wood.

That sounds like a good idea. I wonder if pipe tape on the screw would also work?

What year is your truck? I thought they all only had 2 screws. In any event, make sure you get that seal just right when you reassemble or you will have a wet headliner.

Pipe tape may work if you get it tight and get tape to pass thru hole and not bunch up. Just a couple wraps. If this was a screw thru a trim plate into metal I would go up one size screw but here it may not go thru plastic piece. Small dia copper wire can be used in place of plastic.
Could put drop of clear glue on screws and let harden, but may not be able to remove screws, lol

10Point~ silly as it may sound, swap the screws around. I had to do that when I removed my LED CHMSL 'cause I had the same issue.
Also don't fully secure until all are in place. If I remember I believe I had to hold the housing a little bit away from the truck (maybe 1/4-inch or so) to be able to see where the holes were. The center 2 always lined up but the LH & RH side holes trended to be shadowed & screw wouldn't start if the housing was flush against the cab.
You may want to look at the starting threads on the bolts to see if they've been crushed/cross-threaded - as this can happen too. I used a file to re-shape mine.

You don't have a tie wrap, then use a toothpick or two or a q-tip shaft flattened. That tape is too slippery. You get the idea. All my four screws are the same.
