Hey everyone. I was just talking to my new Son In Law. during this New year dinner. So what was talked about?

He just bought a 2011 Silverado LT 4x4

Going to the desert Sat Jan 8th. No one has time to camp over night so we are going for the night.

Sorry Unleashed but only a night.

He is bringing some of the Marines to do the drive with their trucks. I also told him to look into the forums and check out what is going on. turn on his buddies. Some one has to have a ford in that group. Lets see if they sign up

I would love to go. I have to talk to the wife of course... I have never driven offroad at night and don't have any offroad lights. Is that a show stopper?

Where are you stationed?

We are going to meet in Ramona Ca. My son in law is going to see who all is coming from MCAS I believe he is talkinbg about his truck and two others. MY neigbor may bring his jeep so there is 5 4x4 vehicles so far.

Its about an hour and a half past Ramona to the desert.

The time is approx so far. around 2 - 3 pm. I am trying to get down there with an hour of light remaining so we can enjoy fish creak before dark.

This is my last trip. most truck were 4x2 so I kept on the easier routes. this time I hope to be able to get into some worse terrain. or a little more challenging

My wife was iffy on going, but the kids are all in for the drive.

looks sweet, hows the trails? 4 door truck with a 6.5ft box make it all right or is a shorter wheel base preferred?

The 4 dr 6'5 bed should be fine. can't be that much longer than mine.

10 - 12 " longer?

I used to take my older f 250's with the 8ft bed and extended cab

just curious, I know some trails get pretty crazy and a long wheelbase is not usually your friend, haha!

I know, I would be there in a heartbeat if i was closer, looks like lots of fun! I do go to Las Vegas alot, might have to make it an extended trip next time and drive instead of fly and cruise out to cali for a week.

I'm stationed on Pendleton. I get back from the Grand Canyon on the 7th so I'll have to convince the wife to go back out the next day. More than likely I'll leave her at home and just take my daughter. I usually go offroading by myself or with one buddy who has a jeep. I might bring him along since you guys aren't partial to this being an F150 exclusive event. I also have the long wheel base, but I like some challenges.
