road trip which car to take
so my two kids end school at the end of the week and we are planing a road trip, start in eastern Washington state mad dash to phoenix AZ, through Salt Lake City and Vegas, hang out with family that lives there for a few days then over to Cali, San Diego then up to LA to San Francisco to Portland OR all along the coast taking our sweet time getting back home stopping anywhere fun along the road. NO time restrictions no plans as where to stay, a total careless trip, if we don't find a hotel for the night we crash in the car, just like I did with my parents decades ago (best road trip memories ever)
Here is the dilemma wife says to take her '09 honda accord its better on gas 30+ and zippier, I want to take the truck '11 ecoboost screw, so what if we spend allot more on gas at least we be comfy and with the back seat folded up the back is a queen size bed lol. what would you guys do? part of me think she is right, the smaller car can be a plus in getting around easier, the truck is a tank 6.5 box with a crew cab, and the fuel savings with the honda is definitely a plus, the other part wants the smooth quiet comfy ride that our F-150's are.
what would you guys take in my situation? take the comfy ride in the truck or save the money on gas with the honda and gamble the savings away in vegas

Been on several trips, and man the f150 is hard to beat as far as comfort and ride. Makes long journeys so much better, especially whenever you are a passenger! So what if ya got to spend a few more bucks on gas!
Will actually be heading down to Panama City Beach, FL this weekend. About 8 hours or so away. And you can bet that an f150 will be taking us there! ha

Pull out your man card and get control of the situation, and when that doesn't work remind your wife of the bed hold more things and how less crowded it will be with all the things she found shopping. We're headed to San Antonio on Thursday and it will be in the truck, I feel safer and it's newer.

Take the truck! I drove from Louisiana to Colorado in my truck one summer then the next year we took the ol ladys camary and it was miserable. No leg room, noisy, and just couldn't get comfortable

Two adults + two kids + sleeping comfortably = truck.

F150. Tons of space, comfortable, easier to cruise for long trips. Plus if you have the 36 gallon tank less filling up..... just cost a little bit more each time.

We take our '11 5.0 F150 on all the road trips. Combine the easy and quiet ride, all the amenities, available space and the fact the wife has all the room she wants...the truck has become the road trip vehicle. She likes all the available electronic hookups for her computer, Kindle, etc on her side.
And she doesn't like to drive it....priceless.
We have been bouncing back and forth to Panama City, Mexico Beach, and Destin for a month in the truck and I'm never riding in her small SUV on road trips anymore.
