Default Reverse Receptacle

Last night I went to change the reverse bulb on my 2018 F150. I’d like to never got the old one out it was jammed in and corroded. When I put the new bulb in it does not work. If I wiggle it around it will blink on and off. I think the receptacle is shot. I see a little connection tabs inside and they’re not sticking out far enough to make contact with the bulb. Also the bulb doesn’t seem to snugly fit in the socket either.

How would I go about changing the receptacle? Do I need the wiring harness back to its connection underneath?

I think the plug to beyond that. Little copper tabs inside that are supposed to be springy and make contact with the light, are no longer springy I took a screwdriver and pried them out a little bit so they would make contact and it soon as I plug the bulb in they go back to the old position.

Did the same thing on 2017, they were so corroded the copper wire was gone when I pulled the bulb. I ran to the dealer and the plug end were only appx $20. I tried 3 parts stores before the dealer.

How does the plug install? Do you cut the wires and solder new ones on and use shrink tube? Or is it easier than that?

Thanks,
Kirk

That's the approach I would use. And install the new bulb with dielectric.
