Default Reverse not working SOMETIMES???

1992 F150 XLT w/ 5.0... 130,000 miles

When I first get in my truck, after sitting 30 minutes or more, reverse works just fine. Once driving for 10 - 20 minutes it stops working altogether, feels like I just put it in neutral. What could cause this it worked just fine a week ago? It has a rebuilt transmission in it.

Also rear end is leaking pretty bad, how much to fix the leak, anybody know?

The reverse issue sounds like a bad band in the tranny. I went thru that once MANY years ago.

so basically it's time for a new transmission? Why would a band work perfectly fine upon initial startup for 10-20 minutes? Hmm

Also, i forgot to mention the linkage is wrong, drive is neutral, and everything else is off whack, could this have anything to do with it?

I have no idea why transmissions do what they do. I usually deal with a shop on those. A friend of mine rebuilt his once, when all was said and done all he had was reverse.

and your rear end leaking might just be a bad gasket. make sure you tighten down all the bolts on it temporarily and then get a gasket for like what? $8 i think?
