Anyone installed there own reverse camera? And where did u go into the cab with ur wire?? About to install one and not sure if I want to get the wireless transmitter so I don't have to run wires, unless someone found a easy way into the cab from the rear?? Show pics of ur camera and where u went in the cab if u have em thanks

I've got one, but it's wireless...

My girlfriend got it for me for Christmas because I've backed over two cars now that parked against my rear tires...

It's a "4ucam" and it's a replacement rearview mirror monitor with a wireless infra red cam in the rear... I paired that with some new aux reverse lights cuz my old ones were blown at the time if the following...

Works awesome! and now I can see if someone parks their jet black Honda civic at my friends house under my bumper and under a low pine tree that's hanging over my bed at the end of an unlit dirt road with no moon light so when I back up 1" my trailer hitch stuffs their hood down up by the windshield and then makes you pay for it...

Just cuz you can fit under the truck to "make" your own parking spot doesn't mean you should...</rant>

Lol yea sounds like urs is handy! I already have a jvc double din HU that accepts a reverse cam, I just need the camera but don't know if I want one I have to run the wire from the rear thru the cab or get a wireless transmitter for it? How good is your video feed over your wireless one??

The video feed is great... I get a flicker here and there but it's not bad... I think I would rather a hard wired unit just because a transmitter is one more component to break... Girlfriend can't do anything right lol

As far as finding a place to enter the cab (granted you go with a hard wire), run the wiring in-line with any factory wiring and chase it into the cab leaving some excess... As long as the factory wiring doesn't cause any interference, if it does just pull the wire and run it somewhere else test it and cut off the excess when you find a good route

I ran a wired system without any problems.
Seeing you also have a crew cab, if you look under the driver side rear door area under the truck you'll see a rubber grommet.
I ran the wire(s) through there and then under the door thresholds to the front of the truck.

That's where I have my aux reverse lights ran to the relay I installed behind the kick panel... That grommet works great for wiring into the cab... Just didn't know if all gen's had em

I have one made by Winplus. It is a wireless system. The camera mounts on the license plate frame, and then I wired it to the reverse lights and tucked the transmitter into the cavity behind the tail light.

The monitor simply plugs into a 12V and automatically comes on when the camera gets juice. Now for some reason I sometimes get interference but I think that is because the wireless systems will sometimes get funky if other wireless devices are nearby such as a cell phone, security camera system, or television satellite (my monitors will pick up TVs and security cameras).

When I get a chance I'm going to look for an area to mount the transmitter beneath the truck, thus bring it closer to the monitors and see if that helps when there is a conflict with other wireless devices.

I actually have two monitors. I picked up a new setup yesterday as I cracked the lens on my last camera. I have one monitor on my windshield, the other in my back window for times I am looking out the back.

Overall I'm happy with the Winplus backup camera.

Thanks, didn't know about the grommet on the drivers side as I've only done wiring on the passenger side for my subs and amp. Now that I think of it I Belive there is one on the passenger side too. Anyways I believe I'll get a wired cam since that sounds like a easy place to go in at.

Did you cut a hole in the rubber or take it completly out? Do u have any sound or water come in from it splashing up from the road??

Remove the rubber plug, drill a round hole in the rubber a bit smaller than the wire and reinstall... It will seal itself when you run the wire through it

Good advise that's what I planned on doin if I went with wired cam.

Another question for everyone.... Has anyone used one of the cheaper cameras off eBay? Are they any good? I'm a firm believer in u get what u pay for but they are all pretty cheap.
