Restoration guidance
I am original owner of 2001 F150 2wd SuperCrew.
Introduction to the question:
My truck as 98,000miles and I typically use it three seasons: haul horse, brush to dump and short local trips. I put about 6000 miles per year.
I live in Western New York and road salt has taken toll on the frame and rocker panels. Excessive rust will require welding, replacement
The body is okay, engine fine.
I am fond of the truck and want to keep it.
The question: Can anyone recommend a "punch list" "inspection" inventory to guide my evaluation of what should be evaluated and priced to restore this vehicle? I would use it the "tool" to guide my decision.

Keepin' the lights on!
Sounds like you have a bunch of rust. It would probably be cheaper to buy a different truck that is not in the rust-belt and take it back to NY. Unless your truck has sentimental value I don't see the point in restoring an '01.

Welcome to the forum Tony. You may be able to get more help if you post this in the "1997 - 2003 F-150" section of the forum. I'm sure someone there has gone thru what you are, and could give you better info. Good luck.

Thank you for responding:
You probably are correct and my assessment may lead your way. But that raises another question: How does one assess the quality of a vehicle one thousand miles away?
Is there some kind of service, intermediary to assist in evaluating the truck? Boy that would help.
