Replacement pads and rotors
Hey guys, I drive a 2011 F-150 EB Lariat. I have 30K miles and I am about to get the rotors turned for the second time because of vibration when braking. And it needed it 10,000 miles ago but I've been just dealing with it.
Some say I drive hard and I probably do a little but there has to be a good replacement rotor and pad combination that will keep my truck braking smoother for longer than it does.

I've always bought cheap rotors for about $30 per. It's easier and quicker to throw them away when bad and put new ones on than send it to a shop and wait to have them turned.
My cheap rotors are on about 50k miles.
I did put Wagner thermoquiet pads on as I have had really good luck with those.

The easy fix is, after a hard stop where the pads and rotor get hot, slowly allow the wheels to keep rotating for for a few seconds. Just roll forward slowly for a few feet.
The heat from the sudden stop transfers some of the pad material to the rotor. If not removed you get the pulsing brakes.
Cheap pads do this worse than the good ones IMO.

Also note that these trucks had an issue with sticking calipers, causing the affected rotor to overheat. Mine did this on the left front. I only noticed it becasue the rotor was blue. The dealer cut the rotor and replaced the caliper. (I was hoping they'd replace the rotor since it will now be even more suceptible to overheating and may be damaged from the heat).
It's now about 10K miles later and the vibration is back worse than ever. I'm wondering if this will be covered again or not.

Could be you're experiencing ABS vibration. Mine does it when I stop hard as the truck is trying to keep the rear from locking up. But if I stop normal it's smooth. 72,000 miles on original brakes but I do a lot of freeway driving.

I haven't done my F150's yet....
But I pay to turn my rotors on my other vehicles at $10 a pop. It's a dying art though....not many places do it anymore.
Better then $30 cheap chinese low quality metal rotors for my stopping reliability.
You get what you pay for.....
