Angry Remote starter blues

Have a $50,000 truck in Northeastern Alberta - in the middle of winter, and my remote starter won't start truck unless I am within 200 feet of unit. Called dealer and the response I got was - Yeah they are not very good from the factory! Ford-you oughta be ashamed of yourselves.

Yes it was weird when I got my new fx4. I thought something was wrong. My 11 silvy would start from like 3 blocks away...lol. Just need to make a few more steps before I hit the button

My dealer gave me a $50 Avital (paid nothing for them to install it, long story). They claim they are better than the Ford OEM. But the range isn't spectacular either and I need to have clear view so I can see if it works by the lights flashing.

My range varies also, depending on the day, how I hold my mouth, if I'm standing on the correct foot, etc. etc. etc.

You could try a new battery in the FOB. Never know, that may help.

Hi doug factory remotes always suck. 200 feet is actually pretty good for factory. There are a lot of different variables that play into a remotes range high voltage power lines, cell towers, and radio towers. There are alot of good aftermarket solutions. I have the compustar Drone in my truck so I can start lock and unlock and even roll my windows up anywhere from my cell phone. DEI smart start is also very good.

My remote start on my 2013 FX4 sucks too. My shop is about 200 feet from the house. I have to be half way to the garage before it will start. The whole purpose for a remote start is to warm the truck up before driving it and so its warm when you get in it.... not to sit in a cold truck and wait for it to warm up. I could start my 08 FX4 from my bed. The only answer I get from the dealer is they tell me my 08 must have had a better antenna and 100 feet for the new truck is acceptable. Is there a good way to solve this problem?

My OEM remote start is similar. One of my starters works well, but the one I usually have on me doesn't so I'm wondering if a new battery would help?

I had the same issuse with both my f150s. No real fix besides getting a aftermarket.
