I can remote start my 2018 XLT with my Android phone. It's a Samsung Galaxy 9+. It's called FordPass. You can also track your truck. Tells you exactly where it is.

 

You can also lock and unlock your doors with the app.

 

 

I'm really unimpressed with this app. It doesn't seem very reliable, where the key fob starts works all the time and has decent range. Perhaps if your out of range it would have value.

I have a 2018 xlt use and love ford pass no issues I love the scheduled auto start feature turns truck on at 3:15 Monday -Friday I get off at 3:30 great here to beat the vegas heat.

 

Do you have Sync Connect on the truck? This is an option on the XLT and the Lariat with the 501 package. It comes standard on the 502 package. You would need Sync Connect to be on the truck for this to work.

I have it on my 2018 Lariat with the 502 package and have used the remote start, lock and unlock several times with no issues. Yes, the fob works much quicker if you are in range, but if you are not, the Ford Pass app seems to work well for me.

 

I haven't played with it that much to be honest, the couple of times I did it had trouble connecting to the Ford service it would work once and then not work. I'll revisit this in colder weather.

On the upper trim levels does that app allow you to do things like turn on the heated/cooled seats or adjust the climate controls? Many of the high end German & Asian cars have some of these features built into the app.
