When I lived in Alaska, I had an 81 or 83 F250 with these, regular cab short bed. It was my first vehicle, paid $700 for it (yay Alaska PFD) and learned to drive with it. It had a habit of killing batteries (couldn't figure out where the short was), the master cylinder leaked down under pressure no matter how many times I rebuilt it, the gas pedal was missing (just the arm hanging there), the stereo was an old boombox connected to the stock radio, and it was rusted to hell and back. But the damn thing ran and ran and ran and ran, and never got stuck. Had big old monster truck-looking tires on it that weighed about 300lb (or at least they did to a 15 year old kid). I miss that truck to this day still. Love my 04, but I'd pick up another one of those old tanks in a heart beat.
