Default Which recovery strap to get

Hi everyone,

Im new to this forum and also a new truck owner.

I recently purchased a 2015 F150 fx4 (v6 3.5 ecoboost).

I am currently looking for advice on which recovery straps , D-ring, and receiver tow shakle to purchase. I want to have a good reliable kit to have in case of an emergency.

Can anyone guide me to a good reliable set. If anyone had pictures it willbe great.

I have done a lot of research but, still want more help.

Thanks in advance

ARB is probably the best for a recovery strap. They have been around a long time, and have been tested and abused all over the world. If your *** may be on the line, go with ARB. Now if it's more just a "nice to have" kind of deal, then save some dough and get one from smittybilt. Probably still work fine, way cheaper. I'll assume you know the difference between a recovery strap and a tow strap and why you need one over the other.

I had a strap (don't really do off roading) from my '82 CJ-7 (yes, all these years) so I just bought a Smittybilt Receiver Hitch D-Ring with Shackle from Amazon and an extra Smittybilt 13047B 3/4" Black D-Ring for hooking up the other end.

I got black because after using it and ripping it up, simple to hit it with a can of paint if you want to. My pretty chrome hooks on the front of the truck stay pretty.

And yes, the Arb straps are pricey. Yikes!

Whatever you end up with get an extra shackle. Save the head ache if you put 2 slings together.

I use a shackle at the hitch setup and a 40' strap.

So shackles are now called "D" rings?

I bought the Smitty Built shackles/D-rings for my Polaris Ranger...for my F150...'hello AAA'....The Smitty Built ones are really thick and rugged..same with the strap..Sometimes (even though its most likely made in China) Brand name is better.

A d ring and a shackle are not the same thing. If you want to couple straps together your going to want to use a shackle so you can remove the pin.
