I have a good old Harbor freight regular roll around floor jack, it's probably 15 years old and still works perfect. As far as jack stands what ever you get make sure they have a wide base, at least 10". I have a set of 10 ton stands that are almost 12" at the base and a pair of AC Delco stands that are 10" at the base.
I've seen more than one vehicle fall over because the jack stands where to small in diameter at the base. Remember bigger is better and your life depends on them don't be cheap.

If you can afford it, theses are great and very easy to use. The hydraulic units comes in 110v or 220v AC or 12v DC. It lifts high enough to do a tranny job or exhaust work, leaves the bottom of the vehicle from front to back clear, and you don't need to lift each corner of the vehicle separately. I have the 12v DC version because it can be used anywhere that I can haul it. There is also three different length/weight lifting version. I have the 7000 model and safely lift my wife's mini van as well as my 03screw,with the use of the light truck and suv adapters, with ease.

That jack stand combo looks like a good replacement for the oem behind the seat

I second this.....not cheap but worth every penny if you are a hobbyist wrench turner. I recommend the SUV adapters, though it will lift the truck with just the included rubber blocks.. I just rotated the tires on my RCSB before my SUV adapters arrived via shipping, and had to use just the blocks. Worked great, but the SUV adapters would of added an extra couple inches of lift. Tires came off without an issue however.

What do you use to prevent it from coming down on you in case of a failure if you have to crawl underneath? Jack stands?

It has built in locks, so you lift past the locking point and then lower it back down onto the locks. The hydraulic pressure is not holding it up at that point, substantial pieces of steel are. There is a video floating around of this jack supporting over 20,000lbs without failure.

You can go to the quickjack site and see all of the videos, which include the weight testing.. They also have one where they lift as high as they can then they cut the piston rods and just let the locks catch it from dropping.

I like the idea, but what about sideways movement? May be over thinking it.

Default Jack stands on sale at Northern Tool

https://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...7287_200717287

I received a flyer from Northern Tool in the mail today. One item that caught my eye is this pair of locking jack stands. They are a good step up from the typical stands offered in parts stores and Walmart. They have a large foot print of ~11x10 inches, and extend up to over 24", about 8" higher than typical stands. They are especially well suited for higher vehicles such as pickup trucks where a 16" high stand does not provide enough lift.

They are on sale for $49.99 for the pair, $10 below their regular $59.99 (web) price. And it appears another 10 bucks can be saved with the coupon that came with the flyer, if you can obtain one. They might have the flyers at the store.

I have a similar pair of these, and they are a must-have when getting under my F-150, and have been useful with my other vehicles as well.

HTH.

Doug

Just got part of my lift in, no idea how Fedex screwed up the delivery as it all came out of the same place in California but the right frame some how wound up in Mississippi to be delivered this Mon.

It's a lot heavier duty than anticipated. Other than the right frame also not shown is the box with the truck/suv adapters. Love how it has wheels on one end for moving it around.

Been eyeballing them for a while and they finally had a sale I couldn't pass up. $1,520 for the 7000lb with truck/suv adapters shipped.
