The price they wanted for a '14 502A Lariat was 41,700. I could probably have talked them down some but didn't get the chance because they started pushing the '13. I'd hope to get them down to like 39,700 or something on the '13. Is that wishful thinking?
They can do better, my '13 was cheaper than that back in Sept.

Make sure that you get the oil and filter changed as the normal change interval is 12 months regardless of miles on the odometer.

I bought my 13 at the end of February and it sat on the lot for 13 months. Work a good deal on the 13.

My 13 lariat had just over 200 miles on the dash when I bought it new. It was transferred from a dealer in Georgia and driven down.

They most likely are buying left over 13s from other dealers also

You are looking at spending 37-39k for a 13? I understand it's a Lariat, but still. If they wanted to move that truck off the lot, truly move it, then I'd be looking for somewhere around 28 to start. If not, then I'd try for the 14 as the rebates for them are going to be good since the 15's are right around the corner. I got my current truck last December for 33 with all the discounts and rebates. That was before I rolled my negative equity into the new loan though.

With respect Manuell, he'll never get the truck for 28 or anything close. Depending on the MSRP 25% that will be a good deal. No matter the year, the dealer still paid the invoice price at the time it was put on the lot. I wouldn't have any idea what to offer the dealer for the truck.

claytos1000, I don't have any idea what a good deal would be on the truck. But, if it's more than you think go with a '14. No reason to buy a 2013 truck for the price of a '14. Good luck.

Quite frankly, you offer the dealer what the truck is worth to you ... that's it. Now, expecting him to view the value of the truck the same way you do is a very different story ... but ultimately, you decide what you're willing to pay, and the dealer either agrees or does not.

No disrespect taken. I only say start at 28. Unless he hits the lottery with the finance people, I know he'll never get it for that. Lol. But it's a good starting point to see how motivated the dealer is to move said truck. I agree with Wiggum though. If it's almost the same price as a 14 (within 5k), I'd say get the 14. Being almost 2 production years old will kill the value worse than getting an actual new truck and driving it off the lot. Although the insurance might be a little cheaper since it will be "older".
