Default Rear view camera

I have a 2010 fx4 with sync ( no nav) and audible backup senors. I want to add a backup camera and mirror monitor. Does anyone know if the wiring harnesses are factory installed? And is the camera and mirror something I could install myself.

Most people can do it themselves however I dont know your skill level. Not all trucks have the same wire harness and most likely your tailgate does not have the wires either. The factory unit is expensive compared to aftermarket units. Pickup a kit for around 150 to 200......

I have a 2010 lariat F150 supercrew with sync in the mirror. I read through most the posts on this form and a few others of other guys who did this mod them selves and found the info very helpful. First I purchased the mirror and camera of eBay from nails and sales. There was no posting I simply went to eBay found the seller and emailed with what I had and what I needed. I already had the camera wires in the body harness to the rear of the truck. So I just added the rear portion ( camera and pigtail harness). I installed the mirror and custom made a 10 to 16 pin wire harness that I found suggested by someone on another forum. I did not purchase a headliner harness instead I ran a new shielded wire to the body harness and tapped into the brown and brown/yellow video wires that were located behind the hood latch panel. The camera that I got was a 2011 so all the colors were different so it took some messing around. The colour wire codes I got from someone on on another forum. All I all it was well worth it. And was more intimidating then anything. Good luck.
