Re-read the post, it says "preferred body shops".

Most insurance companies have preferred body shops. If you use one of their preferred shops, they warranty repairs for life. If you use a different body shop, then the warranty is whatever the shop provides, so you need to check it ahead of time.

They will tell you where to go.
Not Geico, they only want to put after market parts or salvage parts on our car, recent continuing incident. They only wrote an estimate for Non Ford parts. The only reason we got Ford parts back on the vehicle was because we renegotiated the repairs with the Ford dealer, essentially the service writer lowered the Ford parts price.

Recently had a discussion with a regional director and he verified their position on replacement parts as I stated above.

Good luck OP.

I have progressive and they only use oem parts when I questioned them. I have the repair sheet from my son's car, and all are Hyundai parts. Took a lot longer because of that.

I am not really happy with progressive. I had to hold their hands to get the car done.

You should also has noted ask for diminished value, because the accident will be noted and cut your selling value.
I agree you could turn this claim over to your Insurance rather than hire a 3rd party but if the other party is at fault, why should this be necessary at all.???

Regarding Diminished Value, this is a legitimate claim provided it's allowed in your State. Not all States allow DV claims. And Insurance Companies do NOT like to settle them. The fact is that all Insurance Companies are in the market collectively, competitors or not. Anytime anyone successfully settles a DV claim it sets a precident against ALL Insurance Companies and makes the next claim easier for the next recipient.

Four years ago we were driving a one-year old Jeep Grand Cherokee and were broadsided at 50mph by a car of teenagers who ran a stop sign. Fortunately no serious injuries but our Jeep was significantly damaged, estimate for repair exceeded $25,000.00 Very close to being totaled but other party's Insurance Co wanted to go ahead with repairs. We stated very plainly right at the onset that we intended to file DV. At first they (Other party's Insurance Co) stated that CV was not valid in WI when in fact it was. After car was repaired (3 months) it was returned to us and all repairs seemed fine. Even had our long-time mechanic drive the car for a weekend and he could find nothing wrong. But we knew than when time came to trade the vehicle we would take a beating so we continued pursuing DV.

The other party's Insurance co fought us tooth and nail all the way. Tried everything to deny the claim. When we enlisted the help of the State Office of Insurance Commissioners they started to make very small, measly offers to settle. We continued to hold our ground and they finally offered a settlement that was agreeable.

It took a 1-1/2yrs to settle but financially it was worth it.

But again I would state do NOT expect your Insurance co to help settle the DV portion of your claim. It simply is not in their best interest.

Not the best pictures, but it's all I have on my phone for now.

I can appreciate sarcasm right there with the best of them, but I have no intention of trying to hold the hand of the body shop dudes...So your comment wasnt the most helpful, but I appreciate the comic relief.

Tennessee does have DV allowance. I have a buddy who is an adjuster for state farm, and he confirmed we do. He said the Georgia has a formula, so they plug the #s in and wham. that's what you get...TN is not like that, so I'll have to argue with insurance about it I'm sure. I took it to a shop today, and the location I went to doesn't do aluminum, but the one across town does. So i will swing by there in the next day or so. The appraiser guy there still took a look just because i was there, and he mentioned that the entire bed will have to come off to replace that right side panel. I wouldn't have guessed that. Which means my decked system needs to be removed, and he said that they would probably re spray the entire liner. which again, was a surprise. Just goes to show you how little I know about body repairs haha...

Preciate the input...I'll try to update as things progress.

Yet another great reason NOT to be a Geico customer and if the at fault person was, *I* would go to MY insurance company and let them work it out as after market or salvage parts generally lower the value of the final product. Yeah, I know about DV but am tired of blood suckers.

There are an AMAZING number of NAME BRAND carriers that I have had trouble with when their insured broke my stuff.

Got involved with a drunk driver at 3:45 one afternoon and his carrier tried to let him claim the collision was my fault. They finally paid the total claim the day before state law was going to hammer them for dragging it on. I did refuse to pay the shop out of my pocket and wait their reimbursement after it took 21 days for them to even acknowledge there was a claim. The good hands folks insisted their insured was not at fault even when the police report clearly and openly said otherwise. That was not fun.

And the theft goes on.
