Default Rear cats

I have a 1997 f150 and i was wondering if the two rear cats are just resonators? Or do they actually cut down emissions?

Anything in front of the O2 sensors cut down on emissions. Any cats after them do too.

there is a couple other open threads about this right now. the rear cats are mainly resonators and do little for emissions, the CEL will not even come on if you remove them.
