Questions for Ford Engineers
First, let start off by saying the following are just questions that I have thought about and are just wondering either way it is the way it is and/or what other people think about the questions:
1. Why can't you get a CC F150 with a 8ft bed?
2. Will the new PSD that is going into the Transit Connect work for a F150 and would it sell?
3. Why is the OEM gooseneck/Fifthwheel prep package (Reece's Elite Series) only offered for the SDs? (The reason I ask this question is on the front of the Ford towing for the F150 it shows a fifthwheel camper being pulled by a F150).
4. Has anyone else notice that the SD 157" WB (SRW) and the F150 157" WB have the same specs as far as length and width but the SD has a 6 3/4' bed and the F150 only has a 6 1/2' bed. If I looked at the spec sheet right the SD bed would fit on the F150. I am just saying if it does then it would make since to use the same bed to save Ford money.
I hope all these questions make since what I am saying or asking.
BTW: I have a 10 SCAB 4x4 5.4l. I love the truck and love what it can do.

Not a Ford Engineer, but my guess for not being able to get a CC with an 8 foot bed would be the necessity to design a whole new frame to go with it. The amount of sales of a CC 8 foot would be minimal versus the cost to make a whole new huge frame that the CC would need. Basically, its not economically viable for Ford to make an 8 foot bed CC.

ME1234, Thank you for the input. I did not look at that way about 8' bed with a CC on F150 and that is a good guess and makes 100% since. I am going to play devils advocate and throw this out there. If what I am reading is true about the HD F150 frames are the same as the SD 157" WB frame then Ford could use the 172" WB frame of SD for the F150 CC w/8' bed and just make it a HD version.
Please everyone feel free to add or discuss these and any other questions that you might have about the F150.
I was not sure what to title the thread.

This has been a known issue on Fords since the 2004-2008 generation, the door latch assemblies are likely largely the same since too. Fords have always been known for the latch assemblies and window regulators acting up in the cold. I spray some lubricant stuff on the latch and in keyhole to keep it from freezing on me.

Ok so its an old thread, its still worth discussing 5 yrs. later to some.
Just about all the OPer's questions should have been addressed to the Ford marketing suits and Ford bean counter suits not the engineers.
Engineers generally take orders from the suits and are over ruled a lot by them even when it comes to engineering matters.
Been there, experienced that.
