its about a GM VTI transmission. i want to know what the purpose of it is. my girlfriend has an 03' saturn Vue thats noisy as hell when you drive it and was told its because of this VTI transmission. I've heard this type of trans has a high failure rate. could someone enlighten me?

 

i can tell u it wont blow up but idk i would have to hear it... just check the fluid make sure it dont smell burnt up... shoulda bought a ford.... or find a g.f. who drives a ford haha

everything smells fine but i was looking through the internet and GM put recalls out on it so idk. im just wondering if theres anything special about this tranny.

 

haha sryz uhm... how many miles on it?

 

haha theres 80k i was just looking at some recalls on it on mitchell(a site i get to use for my auto electrics class) the site shows any recalls and possible fixes needed to be done the car. there's some other things i saw that need to be fixed like the front tranny mount.

but when you drive it its really noisy even when you're going 25mph, everything shifts fine though and its got pretty good pick up.

 

okay... possible bad wheel bearing? like does it get louder when ur doing 40 and kinda weave?

 

i think she does have a bad wheel bearing, it grinds when you're going slow sometimes and when you turn the wheel but this noise is different she had received a letter in the mail saying her car could be louder when driving because of this VTI transmission.
