I am wondering if the USB port stays powered even when the vehicle is off? I have a 2010 F150 and I want to do the quick 2nd USB port mod and put either an ipod or a hard drive in my glove box. Does anyone know if it stays powered? I would hate to drain my battery by leaving it hooked up.

Part 2: Does anyone have any recommendations on which to go with? an ipod or a hard drive? I do use iTunes for most of my stuff.

pretty sure it shuts off when or shortly after you open your door. I have a light on my USB flash drive I use and it goes off shortly after I open my door.

 

oh, and a usb flash drive would be EONS better than a HD or an Ipod.
