Default Question about Extang Solid fold 2.0

Good Morning,

Do any of you guys know if the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 cover is truck specific? I have a chance to buy a 5 month old cover for a pretty decent price but it's coming off a Ram 1500 with the same size bed as my 2019 F150..

Thanks,

Tim

Have the person measure the cover's width and length and compare it to your truck bed. I have the Gator version of the Extang on my 2019 Crew. You did not mention if you have the 5.5 or 6.5 bed. Over at Tonneau Cover World, they show a 2019 Ram with a 5'7" or a 6'4" bed option, so Extang might have one of the three sections with a slightly different length IF the bed widths are comparable. I can measure my cover if you need comparisons. Why is the cover available? Because it leaks? I received 3 last spring before the third one was somewhat better than the previous two. I still have one of the two as a free spare. Maybe your guy had the same scenario. Running weather stripping on my bed rail caps helped a lot. Still get some moisture but very few covers are fully leak proof. I keep my tools and other items in waterproof tool boxes and containers just to be safe.

I just measured my Gator tri-fold which is suppose to be the same as the Extang 2.0. Roughly 68 1/2" long and 66" wide when measuring at the rounded corners.

Thanks for measuring.. Looking at a few of the sites it looks like the dimensions may be slightly different. I think I will give Extand a call on Monday. I would hate to drop the cash and find out the thing leaks like a Sieve..

I bought mine for snow load capacity. My truck sits outside along my house and a strong easterly wind blows snow off my house roof and onto the truck. I sometimes get over a foot or more piled on my truck when conditions are right. A regular vinyl cover would stretch and possibly tear away from the frame. I use the fold-up sections for making room for tall trash cans of lawn debris in just a couple of minutes.

Just checked out the Gator website, are you pretty happy with that tri-fold cover. Just really looking for something to keep the weather out and a bit more secure then a soft shell cover.
Do you have the Gator EFX? Any deals from the vendors on the forum?

One way to answer the question is configure the cover on their site, and see if different years / makes gives you a different SKU for purchase.

I have the Gator Tailback that I purchased from Real Trucks last March before the big lock down in Michigan where the factory is. Found out afterwards on here that the Gator Tailback and the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 are the same cover. There is a vendor/member here that you can get some discounts on. I called Real Truck and got somewhat of a discount off on the phone order. The cover is definitely not perfect. A fellow worker purchased the Gator tri-fold cover that sits on top of the side rails that was about half price. He likes his a lot but he does not have to worry about heavy snow on his cover. Neither one of us wanted the channels mounted to the side of the truck bed and then a drain hose ran through the front of the bed. We figured a drain hose and the channels would freeze up. Maybe we are thinking wrong about that. If I had to do it over, a crossover toolbox would have suit my needs for the most part. I got the cover to put luggage & supplies under for a trip into the Rockies last June that got canceled thanks to Covid. Last Fall, the areas we wanted to hike were destroyed by fire. The cover can be removed in 10 minutes if needed. A crossover tool box cannot.
