Protective paint
Way back in the 70's I had a friend who hauled truck caps from Elkhart Indiana to places on the east coast. He ran 1 ton Chevy's SRW and also DRW's. He used to have a guy do pinstriping and different things with paint on the sides. One of the things he would do was paint a protective coating that was like a rubber texture on the bottom 8 inches of the trucks to protect from stones. It was usually the same color as the truck and it would be sprayed with a clear coat after it was done. I don't remember what it was called or who made it but I am considering doing something like it on my new F-150. I was thinking of something in black to go with the Iconic Silver. I'm also thinking of putting the matte black wide stripes on the hood that I have seen on some trucks. I'm wondering if any of you guys have seen the coating that I am talking about and what is it called and also does anyone have experience putting the hood stripes on and how difficult was it ? Thanks in advance, boomer.

IIRC, Stone Guard was one brand, maybe Chip Guard, Gravel Guard, was another. As I sit here, I think the more recent Paint Protection Films, PPF, are better. Of course, we're talking a few years here.

No Subs for me although I would have loved that. A boomer was also someone who chased the jobs on the road working out of the union hall. It was my dogs name way back before the internet was a thing. I guess I invented something. Thanks again, boomer
