Default Pros and Cons of Wheel-Well Liners

I know there are other threads on this but most are about cost and installation.

One had more to say about function but still left questions.

What are pros and cons?

Pros: Look nice, cut down noise on gravel, keep crud from getting behind fender, etc. ?????

Cons: Trap crud against fender, make it hard to clean inside fender, etc. ?????

I don’t have them on my 2001 but did on my ’91 and seem to recall cussing at them for being in the way of doing a proper cleaning with the pressure washer. My 2001 has no rust on the fenders. The fenders on my ’91 rusted through. Could the liners have contributed to the rusting by trapping crud, including road salt?

I am undecided whether or not to put them on my 2014. Please help me decide by sharing your thoughts and experience on the good and bad of having them and leave the brand, fit, and cost for the other threads.

Thanks.

I thought about them for my truck but decided against putting them on. I have a long gravel driveway & I'm sure they would help with that BUT, like you, I think dirt & salt & small animals etc. would get between the fender & liners & cause issues down the road. I have not seen them in person, so I'm just guessing here. I clean my wheel wells every time I wash the truck, hopefully it'll live a long life.

I'd be afraid that salt would get trapped behind them.

half cosmetic, half function was my decision to purchased OEM liners for my 2013 FX4. I didn't want the white frame of the truck showing through the rear wheels. Also wanted to keep crud out of the wheel wells. they're also easy to clean.

My exact reasons for buying. You have pros, and cons either way you decide to go. I guess it boils down to personal preference.

I'm having the same thoughts. Not sure if I should get them or not. I think they look really nice but I'm afraid it may trap salt up there.

My same worry. I think they look great and pull the truck together, but I really don't want to worry about the salt that we get here during the winter.

Cost savings for the Company. I would think Ford studied the need for them before they made the decision. But, wouldn't bet on it.
