Programmer for better mpg's
I would love to hear from anyone who has put a programmer on their F-150? I have a 2012 Eco-Boost FX-4 and I love it. But wouldn't mind a little better mileage. Thinking about the Bully Dawg. Just wondered how much it helps. Lots of travel baseball.
Sctx4 is what I have and I did get better economy with it but when that programmer opens the engine up to it's true potential it's difficult to keep the foot off the go pedal. Truck drives like a sports car now.
I have the 5.0 so no turbo feed requiring extra fuel, there really is no way to get around it, more air in requires more fuel to mix with it, the ecob will never get the same kind of economy but you can damn sure get a lot more power with a programmer.
I don't have any experience with bully dog but haven't heard any rave reviews about them either, Sct on the other hand is very popular due to it's reliability.

For the short miles I had mine tuned before it blew, my Ecoboost could get better mileage with the tuner if I used cruise control. I would quickly get up to speed watching the fuel milage fall then hit cruise at the speed I wanted and watch it regain numbers. If I was careful, I could get 21 MPG cruising. If I was in the city, stop & go, I would lose MPG's quickly.
I had the SCT4 as well with custom tunes. I did not re-tune the rebuilt ecoboost...too risky for me.
