Default Programmer advice

I have a 2006 f-150 with a 4.6 and a few engine mods. I'm in the market for a programmer but I've never owned one and was looking for the best bang for my buck. I do tow on occasion so I don't want anything that will complicate that. Also if anybody can recomend a cheap roll up bed cover that would be cool too.
