Power Window Trouble?
I have a 1995 Ford F150 and the windows started giving me trouble. They work when they want to and stop when they want. Sometimes it's like they chug up and down. If it was only one I would think the motor, but they both do it. Any ideas?

Do you mean that when you are driving they just go up and down on their own? Or they sometimes will work when you use the switch and sometimes they do not? If it is the last question I would take a look at the switches. They are a bit problematic.
The connections in the switches could be going bad or have gotten dirty. Although the "chugging" up and down could be an indication the electric motor is dying. I am sure this issue has been debated before, try running a search and you will probably find some useful information that way.
If you have a regulator...not cable drive style. It will be the following:
Your motor and switch you find that they are okay.
The gear drive is metal on the motor and you will find that it is fine.
The nylon driven gear may or may not be okay.....but there is a diamond shaped inset behind the plastic driven gear and you will find these little buttons sitting in there (also nylon) that have worn or broken causing the jumping or clunking motion you have discribed.
Unfortunatly you will have to tear down the door and block the glass in up position, drill out rivits holding regulator, take regulator out and disassemble the motor to drive to repair your problem.
reccommened that you get a manual from local parts store and read the proceedure to do all this. It is not complicated to do; just follow the steps.
Happy getting your hands dirty.......GOOD LUCK

They do not go up and down on their own when I'm driving. They only sometimes go up when I push the button. They never have a problem going down, just up.
