Possible BCM issue on 2016 King Ranch?
Hi all, gonna try to make a long story short. I was installing an airbag kit on my truck a couple weekends ago and with the doors opening and closing, power steps going in and out, and the lights coming on and off, I drained the already old battery down quite a bit, couldn’t start the truck.
So I finished the install and had my brother jump me. Some time in that process, I heard a “thud” noise from inside the cab, almost like a shorting out speaker. But it wasn’t that. All the speakers work fine.
So after I heard that noise, started the truck and let the battery charge for a bit. But, right after that, my tailgate release button quit working. Could only drop the tailgate with the fob. Took the truck to the dealer to see if they could figure something out and they said the found a wire coming from the BCM in the cab running down the truck that is bad and needs replaced. But that explanation doesn’t make sense. Since, before I started the air bag install, everything worked fine.
And I did some looking myself after I got the truck back and the harness running on the passenger side looks fine. And now, my passenger side power running board isn’t working with the door opening, only driver side now. So idk what they did.
But I just have this hunch that I may have shorted out or did something to the BCM when I let the battery drain down and then maybe on the jumpstart did something? I just don’t buy that it’s a wire lol
Does this sound like a possible BCM issue since the tailgate release button and passenger running board aren’t working randomly now? The dealer did put a brand new battery in it so I’m good there. But I just need this fixed because it’s getting annoying having to hit the fob everytime I need in the bed.
