Possible 2015-2017 F150 Defective Airbag Recall
Forum Community,
It appears the NHTSA is currently investigating ARC Automotive produced hybrid air bag inflators. They are alleging there is a safety defect in the inflator. It is being reported as being similar to what was found in the Takata airbags where there is the risk of an air bag inflator releasing shrapnel in the event of a collision. At the moment ARC Automotive is pushing back against the allegations. After some research it appears it may include the 13th Generation Ford F150 model years 2015-2017 as it is showing up on some lists published by various law firms. Please see the couple sources below for quick reference or seek out the many others online. So far I have been unable to locate an official affected vehicle list from the NHTSA. I wanted to pass this along so forum members are made aware of this possible future issue. It's important that all of us can share any thoughts or news on something safety related that a number of us may be affected by in the future.
I must point out that nothing is official yet and may not be for awhile. It would be great if our truck's airbags are deemed safe and not included in any future recall campaign. But at the moment, it's something to be aware of.
May everyone have safe travels!
